UAE Gurduara 'amends'
Ardas, triggers controversy?
S.
Surender Singh Kandhari Ji: Thank you for giving this controversy wider
circulation. Perhaps some good would come out of it.
Tribune
has played a very mischievous role by the story they printed; that should come
as no surprise to anyone. They have shown ignorance of good journalism and
published a story that gave the readers the wrong impression that the good
people of Aweer labour camp are radical and fundamentalists. Far from it; they have
proved themselves to be Gurmukhs. They are using their birth right to use their bibek-budhi that Guru Nanak so
stressed and used himself.
To
use his bibek-budhi was the advice I gave to S. Dalbir Singh when I published his
book "Original Sources of Dasam Granth Revealed" in the Nov-Dec 2009
SB.
Following is worth noting from my editorial:
"In
his third letter to Jathedar Akal Takhat dated October 15, 2008, none of which
were answered, S. Dalbir Singh expresses his dilemma that if out of respect of
hukam of GGS against kachi bani he does not recite Jaap, Swaiyya, and Chaupai,
he is panth-dokhi and if he recites them he becomes Guru-dokhi by disobeying
Guru's hukam against kachi bani. He is beseeching the Jathedar to guide him; he
can until the hell freezes over. You have to be Lamba to get Jathedar's ears.
Do not become Guru-dokhi, one cannot become panth-dokhi because there is no
Panth; Badal/Tohra killed it long time ago."
At
this time Sikhi is not being practiced in any Gurdwara anywhere in the world
though there are rare individuals who understand Guru Nanak's real message. But
if they are scholars they are afraid of the establishment to express their real
views; if they are non-scholars they do not have the vehicle or opportunity to
cry out against what has become of Guru Nanak's Philosophy; Philosophy that
rejected every wrong Maryada of his Hindu birth but soon after Guru period
ended, got engulfed by new Maryada imposed by the enemies of his Philosophy
even to the extent of giving birth to a new rival Granth to Guru Granth and
gradually increasing its size to be equal to GGS and changed its title from "Bachittar
Natak" to "Dasam Granth" or "Sri Dasam Granth Sahib" and two Takhats have
placed it on an equally footing with GGS. More recently restrictions have been
placed on acquiring a copy of GGS unless five persons go to get it but RSS
would probably supply Dasam Granth for free through the mail. After BJP, during
its first control of the Indian Parliament, had dedicated 20 Crore Rs for
celebrating the 300th anniversary of the Khalsa, some of it went to printing
Dasam Granth but most in the pockets of politicians and religious establishment
to keep doing BJP/RSS bidding.
All
the attachments above are relevant to this topic. Those who are sincerely
concerned about Guru Nanak's Sikhi should read them all with an open mind and,
using their 'bibek-budhi' take some action. Best thing to do would be the
widest possible circulation of this collection of emails; everybody sends it to
everybody on their email list, an electronic revolution. If Sikhi is to be
saved it can only be saved in the Diaspora. There is no hope for it in India. In the
land of its birth the roots and branches of Guru Nanak's tree have been
poisoned. Guru Nanak's Philosophy needs new fertile ground and HIS seeds
(Sikhs) are scattered all over the world. Let us hope they sprout. Guru
Nanak meant it when he said "sir-dhar-tali-gali-mori-ao."
S.
Gurmit Singh of Australia has supplied the first two attachments; S. Sarbjit
Singh of Sacramento has supplied the third, that details the changes in the
Ardas (similar to the ones we introduced in Roseville Sikh Center in Nov 1999)
in the Gurdwara in Aweer labour camp and he has also supplied the following
original link to the source of the story; next three attachments are from the Sikh Bulletin.
Sincerely,
Hardev
Singh Shergill
