S. JASWANT SINGH KHALRA VOICE OF THE DISAPPEARED;

S. JASWANT SINGH KHALRA VOICE OF THE DISAPPEARED; A FEARLESS
WARRIOR, DEFENDER OF HUMAN  RIGHTS AND HUMAN DIGNITY.

After the Cowardly attack of Indian Army on Darbar Sahib and 39 other Sikh Gurdwaras in June 1984 the POGROM of Sikhs in Punjab and India began. The Army, Police and para military forces started the Genocide of Sikhs everywhere.. Alice Basarke joined WSO as an Executive Director. In 1993 Anne Lowthian replaced Alice as Executive Director. Both these great Ladies served the Khalsa Panth with great dedication. They collected distributed information from many sources, and drafted letters to political figures worldwide. They prepared briefs on behalf of WSO for presentation at various levels of government, and represented WSO in the media, law enforcement agencies, refugee boards and courts in North America.A brief biography of Miss Anne E.Lowthian is attached.
Attached are also 3-4 letters to the editor written by individuals to give an idea of the situation at that time. However, WSO files are full of collecting facts about Human Rights violations happening in Punjab and India from contacts there, from 1984 todate. The details of torture killings, disappearances and crimes against Human Dignity were simply too numerous to count and describe. Majority of crimes happened during Congress Party rule in India and Punjab. However, RSS/BJP/Shiv Sena. and Janta Dal etc were part of these crimes against Human Dignity.
---------------

On 30 March, 1995 Justice Ajit Singh Bains of Punjab Human Rights Group, and Sardar Jaswant Singh Khalra - The Chair person of Human Rights Wing of Shromani Akali Dal, made their presentation to parliamentarian members of Canada's Foreign Affairs and Human Rights Committee, in the afternoon, in room 209 in the West Block. WSO tried to keep recodes of most of the HANSARD on Parliamentary Proceeding in the House of Commons. However, we did not particularly thought of keeping any records of various Parliamentary Committees thinking that they shall be available in future if needed. They must have a record of this committee meeting in their archives ?

On 5 June,1995 ( Evening) Sardar Jaswant Singh Khalra was one of the Guest Speaker at WSO's Commemorative dinner in Room 200 of West Block. That night he stayed with us at 61- Amberwood Drive, Ottawa. Next day after some meetings he travelled to Toronto by road with Amanpreet Singh Bal and on Saturday JUNE 10,1995, he attended the WSO Commemorations of June 1984 and anniversary of Ankheela Punjab Radio Program broad casted on behalf of world Sikh Organization. He gave a public speech on Disappearances in Punjab at the Ontario Khalsa Darbar Gurdwara at 7080-Dixie Road, Mississauga. Ontario.

On 6th September,1995, Sardar Jaswant Singh Khalra was abducted by Punjab Police constables under the direct command of KPS Gill and Ajit Singh Sandhu. He was transferred to various police stations and tortured brutally to make him agree to withdraw his case on "Disappearances" During these three weeks Mr KPS Gill also participated in interrogation and torture of Sardar Khalra. On 27th Sardar Jaswant Singh Khalra was shot dead by Ajit Sandhu, and his body was later thrown in Bias river near "HARIKE".

As soon as the news of Sardar Khalra's abduction reached WSO members, on Wednesday afternoon of 6th September,1995, a concerted efforts by WSO were made to inform all the political Leaders, UN, and Human Rights Organizations worldwide including Indian Governments and its diplomatic missions. WSO contacted:
- All media (Print, Radio,TV etc) representatives in Canada, New York, Washington,D.C. USA, and UK etc.
- US Congressmen and Senators.
- US Congressional Committees on Human Rights.
- All Canadian Members of Parliament, seeking their assistance/help for locating and release of Sardar Jaswant Singh Khalra.
- Amnesty International and SOS Torture to issue "Urgent Actions" and " Fear for Safty " Bulletins.
- Obtained MP's public Support. Some MPs who helped were Mr.David Kilgour, Harbance Dhaliwal, Mrs Colleen Beaumier, Mr. Gubakhsh Malhi, Mr. Andre Oullett and Canadian Foreign Affairs. They all write letters to Indian High Commission in Ottawa.
- Frequent Press Releases were issued to obtain Public Support.
- Lobbied Canadian Foreign Affairs to obtain a public statement noting the concern of Canadian Government for Sardar J.S. Khalra's Safety.

All our concerted efforts failed because of The EVIL intentions, & EVIL deeds if the Congress Lead,Indian Government in Delhi and EVIL Congress Chief Minister Beant Sinh in Chandigarh, Punjab though their EVIL Police Chiefs like KPS Gill,Sumedh Saini, Ajit Sandhu (Khabarr), Swaran Sinh Ghotna, and many, many other Gundas in Police Uniforms. When Ajit Sandhu knew that he  would be exposed for his crimes, he would spill the beans and implicate KPS GIll in these crimes. He got Ajit Sandhu Killed and look it like a suicide on rail tracks with a fake suicide note, this assuring his own safety.

The "Jarwanas" that were mentioned were Punjab Police under orders of its chief K.P.S.Gill Butcher Of Punjab, the Indira Congress Chief Minister - Mr Beant Singh, and Rajiv Gandhi PM of India and his Home Minister Rao. These JARWANAS let loose the STATE TERRORISM on SIKHS IN PUNJAB and were responsible for EVIL of Torture, Killings, Disappearances, and Crimes against HUMAN DIGNITY.

All the pleas of Sikhs to all the political Leaders of the free World, The United Nations, and Akalies, SGPC, Jathedars etc did Nothing raise their voice against this EVIL Terrorism by State Machinery. Twenty years has gone by and the Criminals at the Justice System are still asleep not knowing that they will have to answer for their Crimes against Human Dignity sooner or later.

Every year in June, World Sikh Organization arranges special commemoration events at the Parliament of Canada and across major Canadian cities. From 1996 to this day every year WSO remembers The Supreme Sacrifice made by Shaheed Jaswant Singh Khalra in his sweet memory. All the Shaheeds of Saka Akal Takhat Sahib 1984 are fondly remembered, and prayers are said at special events arranged in their memory.Shaheed Jarnail Singh Khalsa & companions, Sardar Beant Singh, Sardar Satwant Singh,Sardar Kehar Singh, Sardar Harjinder Singh Jinda, Sardar Sukhdev Singh Sukha, Sardar Jaswant Singh (Sandhu) Khalra, Jathedar Gurdev Singh Kanoke and thousands of other Shaheeds are the GLORY OF SIKH NATION who stood steadfast against TYRANNY by governments of India and Punjab.
