Kashmir hamara hei!
Letter to
Editor
Isn’t it
unfortunate and callous on our part that the high-profile visit of top Kashmiri
leader, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, is not getting sufficiently required coverage in
both print and electronic media? The front and even inner pages are missing the
reports of Mirwaiz’s meetings with the mainstream political leadership in the
country. No significant editorial has been seen to comment on the Kashmiri
people’s plight, the message Mirwaiz has brought to Pakistan or the indifference
on our part towards the jugular-vein stand-point of Pakistan.
It seems we
have abandoned Kashmir, and the nation has succeeded in resolving it by the
slogan “Kashmir hamara hei”, only specific to edible oil. Indian argument that
instead of sticking to UN Kashmir resolutions stance, both the countries must
solve other issues first, seems to be working. This does not however mean that
our official stance, our support to Kashmiris and our efforts to highlight this
issue on the international forums should not remain our priority number one
tasks.
