Bhai Sahib Sardar
Sarjit Singh ji and other brothers,
Waheguru ji
ka Khalsa,
Waheguru ji
ki Fateh!
I am
answering your question as to the best of my neuro-computer. I believer Dr
Harjinder Singh Dilgeer's suggested 'The Sikh Calendar was first published in 1995 in one of
the issues of the World Sikh News (WSN; now out of print). The WSN had been a weekly
publication in Gurmukhi and English languages, published from Stockton, CA,
USA, under the Editorship of Dr Gurinder Singh Grewal, a cardiologist by
profession. Because of the financial difficulties, the WSN hadno option but to
cease its publication with a life span of over 10-year.
Dr Dilgeer's
suggested 'The Sikh Calendar' had been in publication well before the controversial "Nananshahi
Calendar" alias
Purewalshahi jantri that had been no where. The latter has been 'controvercial' ever since it came into discussion
and publication as well. I am sure Sardar Makhan Singh Purewal as well as Dr Dilgeer
both know the weaknesses of the Nanakshahi Calendar/jantri, which is known as Mr Pal Singh's
calendar, Purewal's jantri; Purewal himself described as Surajvanshi. This jantri has been full of controversies well
before it was brought into publication, because of the involvements of people
like Sadh Satlani (now deceased), derewalas and/or Sadh Sant Samaj. His
(Purewal's) apparent reason had been to mustering support from various other
sources, including the Sikh Institutions, for his jantri to be accepted by the
Shiromani Gurdwara Prabhandhak Committe (SGPC).
Although I
posed questions, in writings and at the face, to Mr Pal Singh Purewal in a
meeting which took place in a local Gurdwara's library-cum-meeting room
on various matters. My questions to Purewal had been would he tell what Masayas,
Sangrands, Pooranmashis, Lohri, Sikhs' enemy's Republic and Independence dates have been
doing in his Nanakshahi jantri, etc., and how did these dates relates to the
Nanakshahi calendar (Purewal's Nanakshahi Calendar alias Purewal's jantri)?
Later, as I believe it, Purewal had dropped the Sikhs' enemy's 'dates' from his
calendar. Further, when he changed the Gurpurab date of Sahib Guru Gobind Singh
ji from the month of 'December' to the 5th January, with the royal assent of one of
the traitors of the Guru Khalsa Panth, jathedar (band leader) Gurcharan Tohra, the then President of the SGPC, I
lost my interests and trust in Pal Singh Purewal, his Nanakshahi Calendar or
more so in the Purewal's jantri.
Indeed, Dr
Dilgeer's suggested 'The Sikh Calendar', which had been in publication until 1999 or 2010, but
I came across criticisms from my brothers and sisters of the Guru Khalsa Panth
(for details, please see Sirdar Gurmit Singh Khalsa's e-message of 14th
January, 2013). Major criticisms, for example, had been on the months and days
of the week (i. e., Monday to Sunday, as suggested by Dr Dilgeer
initially). Dr Dilgeer's suggested 'The Sikh Calendar' remained in publication until 2010.
It had been published in The Sikhs: Past and Present, followed by its successor The International
Journal of Sikh Affairs ISSN 1481-5435 (an official organ of The Sikh Educational Trust) and
as 'The Sikh Calendar'.
Since 2011,
Dr Dilgeer's suggested Sikh Calendar has been modified, amended, and
received a new name, The Sikh Historical Calendar ISSN 1708-9220 under the guidance of my older
brother Sirdar Gurmit Singh Khalsa. Sirdar Gurmit Singh Khalsa's suggestions
have been followed since 2011, The Sikh Historical Calendar has ISSN
1708-9220.
This calendar is regularly updated best to my knowledge, and mailed
internationally via electronic mail in its e-format since 201. Sirdar Gurmit
Singh Khalsa is consulted on the The Sikh Historical Calendar ISSN
1708-9220.
This is my
knowledge about Dr Dilgeer's and Sirdar Gurmit Singh Khalsa's suggested "The
Sikh Historical Calendar". I would like to mention that the change in Gurpurab of
Guru Nanak Sahib has been established in The Sikh Historical Calendar, as
20th October.
Further, additions and deletions may be made as the Sikh History from the
Sikhs' point of view warrants. My older brother Sirdar Gurmit Singh Khalsa,
Justice of Peace, AUSTRALIA, is kept up to date.
I believe I
have given far more information than required, as I do not function in any
secrecy and NOT what is not in the interests of the Guru Khalsa Panth.
I would like
add here one more point that Mr Purewal you, with the Guru Khalsa Panth's
traitor Gurcharan Tohra, have been out to disrespect with the Gurpurab dates of Sahib Guru Gobind Singh ji
and let me tell you that "you play with your Date of Birth to the Revenue Canada to submit your
Tax Return and to the Canadian Passport Office" and let me know if your
playing with your own Date of Birth allowed you by both Canadian agencies to
have your Tax Return accepted and the passport (your) issued,
respectively?" I do not have any reply from Mr Purewal. Yes, Purewal has
been successful to play with the Guru Khalsa Panth, but he will never succeed
with the matters concerned with the Governmen of Canada.
Is anyone of
my brothers has any further question relating to my reply, please let me
hearing from you.
Best wishes
and warmest regards.
Your
brother,
Awatar Singh
